Many people say that they do not believe in hypnosis. Many of these people believe that it just does not work or that the people used at displays are actors and are just pretending. In many cases this can be true, but only where the person doing the hypnosis is out to make a quick buck, but what many people are asking is “what is hynosis used for?”
If you needed a specific type of therapy, where your doctor found that talking is not enough for you, or that you need to know a bit more about your past. You would need to go under hypnosis. You will find that many therapists can offer you what is called hypnotherapy.
This type of therapy is used on a wide variety of issues that a client is dealing with. The first thing and probably the most used method of hypnosis, in the early days, was to quit smoking. It was believed that a hypnotherapist could trick the individual brain into not wanting anymore cigarettes. This would be done by making him or her think that cigarettes are disgusting.
The whole process turned out to work, and people started doing hypnosis to help them quit smoking. It should be said that this process was not an overnight thing. However, once it was mastered, the hypnotherapists moved on to doing more with hypnosis. The next thing they turned to was weight loss. This, after some time, also become a success, and people started using this method of weight lose too.
It was not as simple as telling the person that he or she was thin. This would obviously not make the person thinner. It was more complicated than that, which is why it all came down to a bit more talking on the patient’s side. It had to be found why the person ate, was it for comfort, fear or anxiety?
It then all came down to making the person see the thing they are using as an excuse, as not important. This led to hypnotherapy being used for fears and phobias.
